Welcome About Me Photos Movies

E. Natasha Vanderhoff

Biology at FMU can take you to exotic places and lead you to exciting discoveries in your own backyard!

Above is a photo of a golden-handed tamarin in a fig tree. I took it on my most recent trip to Suriname. Its OK if you’ve never heard of Suriname; Suriname is a small country located in the Guyanian Shield located in northern South America. I first went to Suriname almost ten years ago and I fell in love with the country. As a biologist there is no better place to marvel and learn about the wonders of nature. But you don’t have to travel to South America to meet and learn about interesting animals, there are plenty here is South Carolina. In addition to the work I am starting on tamarins, I am also interested in spiny spiders and robins.
